The Somerville was everything we expected after reading previous reviews. The location is ideal, very close to the heart of Torquay but far enough away so as not be disturbed by any noise. The room was beautifuuly presented, spotlessly clean, with every possible need catered for. The breakfast menu was very extensive ( a dieters nightmare!) a lovely array of cold buffet options and all hot food very well cooked and presented to order. The staff were very helpful, polite, and friendly. We telephoned the day before arrival and advised the owners of our estimated arrival time, although this was a couple of hours prior to check in time our room was ready and they were more than happy to welcome us.
No complaints at all.

The owners were very pleasant and helpful, they went that extra mile. The location was excellent, 5 minutes walk from the centre. The luxury rooms were exceptionally comfortable and clean. The decor was amazing. I would definitely go back again and recommend this to others. The breakfasts were excellent. An excellent selection of cereals and fruit. The cooked breakfast was cooked to your choice (nothing was too much trouble) and brought to your table.
No complaints whatsoever.

The propriators were very welcoming, They kindly carrried our cases from the car to our first floor room on request, then offered us tea and cake after our 6 hour journey which was unexpected. Little touches, such as, daily and free access to fresh milk from the guest fridge (alernative option to the carton milk provided on the tea/coffee room tray) and selections of fruit and homemade cakes and biscuits. The excellent choice at breakfast, using locally sourced produce set us up for the day. Sleeping was a dream, literally, due to the comfortable beds and feather filled toppers and pillows. The location suited us fine, being ten minutes walk down the hill to the harbour and town centre (could be bit taxing for some). We would recommend.
Our first floor room had no view, in fact we were facing a wall. However, as we went out every day this was not a problem and in fact it made it very quiet at night with no traffic noise at all.

All the nice little touches like freely available delicious home baked cookies, sweets & lovely classical music in the room. Very good quality cups, tea & coffee in the room.
The towels have too much fluff. All over my body when drying myself. Bathroom too small.

Perfection in a guesthouse! Friendly greeting on arrival from the lovely Grant. Immediate upgrade offered at a discounted price as suite available! And wowsers, what a room! Fantastic relaxing break after massages in the comfort of our suite. A wonder just 5 mins down the road for a 4 course Catonese meal - just idyllic! Great nights sleep followed by marvellous fresh, attentive and fantastic brekkie. Better then most expensive hotels and certainly the best place to stay in Torquay! We will be back using those "previous guest discount" vouchers!! Xx

Plenty of food at continental breakfast including tea, chocolate, coffee and fruit to order. Stylish room, as well as reasonably good staff with a warm friendly manner.
